Love Fair Trade is a small family business that has been helping to alleviate poverty in developing countries since 2006. The products we sell are produced from sustainable raw or recycled materials, such as carved items that are made from cultivated timber and, where painted, with non-fade, child-safe acrylic.
We buy our products from suppliers of fair trade goods that are all members of the British Association of Fair Trade Shops (BAFTS). Environmentally aware, suppliers only make necessary trips by air to meet producers, artisans and craftsmen some, of which, are in exceedingly remote areas of the globe. To minimise the impact on the environment of transporting goods around the world, where possible, suppliers ship by sea rather than by air.
Relationships between suppliers and producers are based solely on trust, transparency and friendship. On many occasions, payments are made in advance to enable communities to buy raw materials and to survive during the manufacturing process.
Many families, co-operatives and communities rely 100% on the money they earn through the fair trade of their goods to wealthy countries such as Britain. Nothing is wasted in the production process and everything that can be used to make something new and valuable is utilised including rice and cement sacks, drink cartons and bottles, card and paper, and even elephant dung!
We at Love Fair Trade are passionate about reducing our own carbon footprint and always strive to use recycled card and packaging materials when mailing goods, although some gifts do require bespoke, specialist protection.
