Fair Trade works because it pays fair prices to producers that reflect the true cost of production and the organisation promotes gender equality in pay and working conditions. It is by supporting social and environmental projects, and by committing to long-term supplier relationships, that Fair Trade can improve people’s lives. Unfortunately, too many governments in the developed world are still allowing food distributors to place profit above human rights and are turning a blind eye to slash and burn farming methods that are wrecking local environments.

If you buy an item from Love Fair Trade you are helping our suppliers to ensure that artisans work for a fair wage, in safe and healthy circumstances, with good ventilation and lighting, and that there is no child or slave labour. Advance payments are often made to help manufacturers buy land, construct buildings and install machinery.
